Pros and Cons.
Nowadays, i usually would love to spend 1 - 1.5 days working from a cafe. not because i like to use that as a opportunity to "snake" out. But it do make a difference to me when i escape from the four walls of the office sometimes. I usually hang out at Starbucks or TCC , whichever outlet that is most conducive .
Today i stopped at Starbucks Centrepoint. I like that place because it is cosy and quiet especially in the morning. But decided to leave late morning when more and more people come. Because the place is relatively enclosed with a low ceiling , the noises tend to reflect around so it makes it difficult to focus.
I attempted TCC bugis after lunch. Not a bad place, just a bit too cold. Luckily i brought a jacket :) and of course , most important thing is that needs to be power source within reach else you probably cant stay at that place for too long. As for my car, i parked at AA river valley, about 10 mins walk to killney but is free. So a little bit of walking is worth.
The best thing i like about doing this kind of "Total office Mobility " is you get to be on your own and focus on work, no disturbances in office. And sometimes when you are tired, u sip what you ordered ( my fave is mocha-somethign. Mochavilla, mochachino ) look around at other people and start to decipher who they are, what they do and why are they hanging at cafes during office hours :0
Maybe if i can, i should start posting pics.. using my Zn5 of course.

to MBA or not ?
Went for the NTU MBA Information Sharing session at Fullerton on Saturday. Got a much better understanding what to expect and what are the requirements after the talk. One of the entry criteria is to have a good GMAT score. The GMAT average for 2008 was 650..
I have 580.. Prof tell me dont waste time, go take again. Sighz :(

25 things about me
Facebook recently has this circulating around where everyone write 25 things about themselves and tag 25 friends. Here is mine
1. I initially thought this writing 25 things is a stupid idea but after seeing so many people write, i decided to write one for myself.
2. My career with motorola is going to end on Sept 30 and i still have not decide what i want to do
3. I love to go to gym and i frequent California Fitness. I usually go in the morning after dropping Mrs Chan in her office. Like that save money and save costs.
4. I fell in love with running after std chart half marathon last year and this year i am going to take part in more runs. I already signed up for Sub Urban run and most likely will go for AHM and Std Chart 42!
5. My wife earns more money than me. Sighz. Maybe i should have taken a finance degree 10 years ago.
6. I stay in sengkang and i love sengkang :). There is MRT, Shopping Mall, Sports complex and almost everything except a cinema
7. i have a 85 year old granny and 2 x 60+ aunties who took care of me and is my turn to take care of them for as long as they lived.
8. I am back at WoW gaming and i am impressed with my guild, pandamonium. :). I love my guildmates. Especially those who always bring me to go drink :P . The officers are equally great. Without them , i think we will not have progressed so far. I dont need a top guild , i need a homely guild and i already found the one.
9. I got a group of secondary school frens whom we still meet almost every week since we know each other in 1988. Do some mathematics and see how long we know each other. We still behave like kids when we meet. And we are into NDSL gaming recently.
10. I have a Mac, 1 laptop , 1 EEE PC , 1 PS3 , 1 Wii and 1 NDSL at home. I never get bored. I wonder why i didnt buy a PSP
11. I dont like to KTV. I scared i open my mouth , i will have a career dilema
12. My colleagues never ask me to go play soccer. they keep thinking i cannot play. If you all see this, please ask me the next time.
13. I got a colleague i know for 8 years 1 month and he is going to leave me on March 30 :(. If you want to know who is he. Dig out Buisness Times May 11 , 2002 newspaper, the amara adverstisement
14. I am a shopaholic. Everything i see i want to buy. Food, Clothes, Bags . That is why i need an accountant to be my wife.
15. I can stay at home whole day , as long as u give me a computer with internet access. There is tons of things to do. For a start , i can write another 25 things about me.
16. I eat 2 portions of food during lunch almost everyday. I weigh 78 kg now.
17. I love to play mahjong but my mahjong kakis is getting lesser and lesser. Anyone interested?
18. I drove a peugeot 307 but it is getting sucky. Looking at Honda CRV now. If i get a new job before end of the year, i think i will go and buy it.
19. I used to love motorola phones but i think i will stop using them after they retrenched me on Sept 30. So any Samsung or SE suppoerters, please start to psycho me now.
20. I just finished my reservist training for the SAF and i am officially in Mindef Reserves. No MOre IPPT! SAF = Rush to Wait , Wait to Rush
21. I am a TVB fanatic, i watch tvb series since i am 5 years old and i can remember almost every show i watched . I just finished Gem of Life ( 82 eps ) and i dont mind watching it again!
22. I love to talk. You can make me blind, make me deaf, but dont make me mute please.
23. I love my wife. She gives me all the freedom i want and she is pretty , rich and understanding =D
24. If i can go back in time, i think i want to become a student again.

Going back to where it all started
Joined Motorola in 2000 and was located in level 3. The team expanded and level 3 does not have the room and space for expansion and we moved up to Level 4.. ( level 3A for whatever reason why it is call that way ) and technically speaking , we expanded to Taipei , Brazil and US as well!
And now we are back in level 3, size reduced back to 43 until Sep30 before we become history.

Feb 6 - Entering Mindef Reserves
After 2.5 yrs full time nS ( enlisted 1995 ) and 6 high key incamps, finally NO MORE RESERVIST. this last low key in camp is a hppy one, basically just doing parade rehearsals after parade rehearsals.

Mindef Reserves
Defination : MINDEF Reserve consists of NSmen who have completed their NS training cycle but have yet to reach the statutory age. They are no longer required to be called back for In-Camp Training (ICT) but are still liable for NS.

Added a countdown timer to blogspot , shows the time left i have with the company... 244 days more...
A So-SO Chinese New Year
Never go house visiting this year. Just the usual Chinatown Grab-Cheap-Goodies on Eve with Sec Sch Frens and then went to Josh's place for some makan and games session.
It rained during CNY Eve, makes the Chinatown experience a bit sickening. But nevertheless we still manage to roam till 3+ in the morning. There is no fireworks at Marina. This year, there isnt much to see, everything is contained on the floating platform, no pasar malam, just some food stalls underneath the grandstand seats. So embrassing when someone ( i think are european boys ) ask us after the firecrackers , "is that all ? no fireworks? "

皮之不存，毛將焉附
The aftermath of the Motorola Massacre ( Jan 15th ) . Not only is Singapore Design Centrea affected ( Damage is 100% wiped out ) , sites and colleageus we worked with for the past few years has all been impacted. This is truly a sad moment to record in our history books. This is like my 911 .
The blood bath is unbearable, now we have to bear with the aftermath. 皮之不存，毛將焉附, without SDC, will the remaining 40 people here left to clear up the mess worth how much ?
